DO I NEED TO CHANGE ALL THE COMPONENTS WHEN REPLACING MY TIMING BELT SET?
Yes! It is to the best of your interest to replace all Timing Belt components. Though some conservative mechanics would advise you to keep the oil seals when they visually see it as still good-to-use, remember that the oil seals are part of the entire component of the T/Belt function. If it eventaully leaks due to over wear-and-tear, your new T/Belt & Balancer will be compromised because it will be exposed to hot oil leaking to it. You won't notice it until it's too late and you have to change the entire set all over again, costing you more with a new set of Belts and the rest of the components and a new round for the labor expense. The best is to change the needed Belts, Bearings and complete Oil Seals.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO CHANGE THE TIMING BELT SET?
We highly recommend that you change the entire set every 70,000 Kilometers! If you're more conservative, we can even recommend at 65,000 Kms. to keep your vehicle in tip-top performance! This is to consider the traffic conditions in our MetroManila streets. Remember, even if the Odometer isn't registering any distance while idling in traffic, the entire T/Belt components continue to function. Thus, there are actually mileage spent by the T/Belt components, that do not actually register in the Odometer while you're stuck in traffic. We also do not recommend stretching your periodic maintenance for the T/Belt over 80,000 Kms. It is never worth the risk, especially when you're running in good amount of speed when the T/Belt snaps, it can, and will, damage many other components other than that of the T/Belt components. We've had horror stories of expenses reaching over 50K Pesos due to extensive damage to the components within.
HOW DO I KNOW WHEN IT'S TIME TO CHANGE MY BRAKE PADS/DISK BRAKES?
It is best to visit the branch on the recommended PMS schedules we have posted in this website and have the mechanics check on them. Brake Pads and Disk Brakes have no exact relationship with the mileage of your vehicle like that of the T/Belt Components. Have them checked on the Light and Heavy PMS Schedules of your vehicle to always ensure, a safe use and travel in our busy roads. Always remember, it is bad enough when your vehicle won't start, it's even worst when it won't stop when you need it to!
